Math SAT Prep Schedule
Practice Tests Non-Calculator Section
WEEK ONE: Take the practice (pre-test). 11 question - 14 minutes. This is a NON CALCULATOR portion, it is important for students to keep in mind that almost one third of the SAT is non-calculator for the SAT.
WEEK TWO: Topic is y = mx + b, learning to identify the slope and y-intercept of an equation and graph. Watch the video and then try the practice problems.

WEEK THREE: Pythagorean Theorem - Watch the video to review the Pythagorean Theorem. You will need to pause the video to hand out the practice problems and give students time to work on them. The answers to the practice problems are explained in the second half of the video.
WEEK FOUR Scaling - Watch the re-teaching video to review scaling and proportions. Then have the students try the practice problems, when finished watch the solutions video.

WEEK SIX Circle - Watch the re-teaching video to review properties of circles. You will need to pause the video after a few minutes and handout the practice problems. The solutions and how to work out the problems will be gone over in the second half of the video.
WEEK SEVEN Practice Test- Have students take the practice test, 11 questions in 16 minutes. CALCULATORS can be used.
WEEK EIGHT Polynomials - Watch the re-teaching video on polynomials. You will need to pause the video after a few minutes and handout the practice problems. The second half of the video will go over the practice problems explaining each one.
WEEK NINE Scatter Plots and Lines of Best Fit - Watch the reteaching video and then have students try the problem on the handout.

WEEK TEN--Swihart Solving Linear Equations - Watch the reteaching video and then have students try the problems on the handout. The second half of the video will go over solutions to the handout.
WEEK ELEVEN Triangle Angle Sum Theorem - Have the students watch the reteaching video below and then try the practice problems on the handout. There is an answer key you can download and bring up on your project to have students check their work.

WEEK TWELVE Rates and Pythagorean Theorem - Watch the first video (Act One) and answer questions 1 - 3. After the students have answered questions 1 - 3 show the students the two images under Act two (the dimensions, the speed). Have student answer the rest of the questions. Once everyone is done show the solution video further down the page.

WEEK THIRTEEN Adding and Subtracting Fractions - Watch both videos: 1st video we are going to go over adding and subtracting fractions that do not have the same denominator (unlike fractions). The first way to do this is to find the “easiest common denominator” of the two fractions. 2nd video we are going to go over the other way to add and subtract fractions that do not have the same denominator (unlike fractions). We will talk about finding the “least common denominator”. Then hand out the practice problems.

WEEK FOURTEEN Right Triangle Trig - Watch the video to review finding side lengths and angles using the three basic trig functions. Have the students write what sides goes with each trig function and what "SohCahToa" stands for. on their paper.
WEEK FIFTEEN: Practice Test - Have students take the practice test, it has 8 questions in which students have 12 minutes to answer. These questions have "grid in" answers.
WEEK SIXTEEN: Simplifying rational expressions - Watch the video to review simplifying, multiplying, and dividing rational functions. Then have the students attempt the practice problems.
WEEK SEVENTEEN: Word Problems - Fundamentals - Watch the first 3:20 of the video learn how to translate word problems into algebra. Students will write down a few notes and walk through the first problem. Then PAUSE the video after 3:20 (after the first problem is explained) and have the student try the next 4 problems on their own. Finally, resume the video so students can check their work.
WEEK EIGHTEEN: Common Quadratic Problems - Watch the first 5:05 of the video to review rules of quadratics and go through two of the practice problems. Pause the video at 5:05 and give students a few minutes to try the last three problems, then resume the video to check their answers.
WEEK NINETEEN: Simplifying Radical - Watch the reteaching video and then have students try the practice problems. There is an answer key below for students to check their work.
WEEK TWENTY: Solving Equations Graphically - Watch the reteaching video and then have students try the practice problems. There is an answer key below for students to check their work. **** Students will need a graphing calculator****
